Happy Pride, everyone! However you identify, take a little time this month to be proud of yourself! ‘Cause, “if you can’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else?”. Can we get an ‘amen’!
This year our pride craft is what we think has to be the most popular craft of the year! We cannot stop seeing these yarn hanging rainbows; they are all over Instagram, Pinterest and even Target! You know, the ones with fringe on the end? We have no clue who the originator of this craft is to give credit to, but we read lots of different tutorials, pulled from them and added out own twist!

Wooden Clouds or a Cricut Maker
Cut to size – Lay out a long piece of rope in a rainbow shape. Once happy with the size, cut the rope.
Prep rope – Tape the ends of rope with painters tape to help keep it from fraying. Draw a line across to help define where your rainbow will start and end with a ruler and marker.
Add wire – Cut wire to the size of each arch and lay over each piece of rope. Bend it to match the shape.
Wrap – Tie a long piece of yarn to the marked spot and start wrapping around the wire and the rope. Wrap, wrap, wrap, wrap, wrap. The backside of the rainbow will be the side where the wire is, tie all knots to the back so they are hidden. (If you want the front and back to be seen, tie the knots so they are sandwiched between the arches.) TIP: Tape the wire down to the rope with clear tape to help hold it in place.
Repeat – Wrap different colors of yarn around each arch.
Glue together – Lay your rainbow with the front facing down. Cut a popsicle stick into small pieces and hot glue it to the back for support. If you want the front and back to be seen you can sew each arch together…but who has time for that?
Fray if you want to – Cut ends of the rope and manipulate to fray. (We did…but then we wanted clouds!)
It’s so cute but everyone does the fraying and we wanted to change it up!
Cut out clouds – We used the Cricut Maker and a cloud image from Cricut’s Design Space and basswood for this step. If you don’t have a Cricut you could cut out balsa wood with a craft knife, or even make the clouds out of cardstock or felt!
Glue clouds – Trim any extra fray and hot glue clouds to each end of the rainbow.
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow…Why, oh why can’t I?
