We have a instant camera, that we love to pull out during parties and event, but we never know what to do with the pictures after! So we came up with the idea to create our own little photo albums to fit the pictures perfectly. Best part about this project is you can use scrap materials that you already have and you can make them in any size to fit your needs!
This is the perfect back to school project or a group event craft activity. In this class you can make your notebook any size to fit your needs. Use it for journaling, note taking, scrapbooking or a mini album, perfect for remembering special events!

Materials:
- Fiskars Silicone Mat
- Scissors
- Bone Folder
- Fiskars Deluxe Paper Trimmer
- Fiskars Heavy-Duty Easy Change Detail Knife
- White Cardstock
- Decorative Cardstock
- Chipboard Sheet or Thin Cardboard
- Small Pieces of Felt
- Binder Clips
- White Crepe Paper or Sheet of Computer Paper
- Craft Glue
- Paint Brush
How To:
Cut book pages to size:
Take white cardstock and cut it down into 3” x 4.25” pieces using the Fiskars Paper Trimmer. Continue to do this until you have 24 cut pieces.
Clip pages together:
Gather your pages together so they’re aligned. Hold them tightly together with two medium sized binder clips. Tip: Cut a piece of felt to fit inside your binder clip, this will insure the binder clip doesn’t leave any indents in your pages.
Cut grooves in the spine:
Using Fiskars Heavy-Duty Easy Change Detail Knife with the cerated blade, cut grooves into the spine of the book. This will help with the longevity of the book and help the glue adhere ear to the pages. Please be careful while doing this.
Glue together the spine:
Cut out a piece of computer paper…or better yet crepe paper if you have it, slightly bigger than the spine. (4.25” x 1.5”) Add a good amount of craft glue along the spine and lay the paper on top. With a bone folder press the paper into the cut grooves, smooth it out with your fingers and wipe away any extra glue. Let it dry for at least 20-30 minutes.
Cut the book covers:
Cut two pieces of thin cardboard about a centimeter bigger than the book pages. Tip: We used the backing of a decorative cardstock pack…a cereal box would work too!
Cover the book covers:
Pick your decorative paper for the book cover and cut a rectangle about 6” x 9”. Turn the decorative paper over and place the two cardboard rectangles on top leaving enough room for the spine in the middle. We found it best to leave a little more extra room than you think for the spine. Glue the two pieces of cardboard on to the paper. Trim the corners in the shape of a V and glue down the flaps. Press well to make sure they stick!
Add a decorative strip:
This is optional, but cut out a strip and glue it to the center of the spine. 6” x 2.5” Fold over the edges and glue them down.
Cut and add end pages:
Cut out two sets of end pages. The end pages the same size as two book pages just folded in half. 6” x 4.25”. Once cut, fold them in half. Add glue to one half of the folded paper and stick it to the end of the of the bound pages with the fold lining up to the spine. Repeat on the other side.
Attach bound pages to cover:
Apply glue to the end page and press it to the cover and repeat. Take your time with lining everything up. And you’re done!
Amazing what you can do with some pieces of scrap paper!
