Cricut Maker Quarantine Crafts

Quarantine and crafting seem to go hand in hand! More than ever people are using what they have to find a creative outlet. While we don’t want to sit in our apartment and think about what’s happening in the world all day, we are surrounded by it no matter what.

Living in NYC we are in the middle of it, although it’s scary, the city feels very comforting, people are staying in, checking in with each other, cheering at 7:00PM every day for the healthcare workers and waving to each other from windows. It’s a weird time with all our emotions heightened and all over the place.

Although we don’t want to be focused on it, staying at home is now a part of our lives, so we thought we’d play around and craft about it! We know the severity of these times, but we wanted to keep things light and fun!

Alive and Anxious Pennant

Since baseball is cancelled for a bit, show your pride in your anxieties with this cute pennant!

Materials:

• Cricut Maker or Air 2

• Cricut Iron-On

• FabricGrip Mat

• Felt

• Cricut EasyPress Mini

• Craft Glue

How To:

• Open project in Cricut Design Space.

• Follow the prompts to cut out the pennant.

• Follow the prompts to cut the side and the tails.

• For the lettering, lay the Iron-On facing down on a standard grip mat.

• Click the mirroring button before loading. (The machine will check if you’ve done this!)

• Unload, peel and weed away any extra Iron-On.

• Use Cricut’s recommended settings chart and set time and temperature on EasyPress or EasyPress Mini according to the fabric/Iron-On you’re using.

• Preheat your pennant by pressing the EasyPress for a few seconds to remove wrinkles and moisture.

• Position the Iron-On in the center of the pennant – shiny side clear liner facing up.

• Place the EasyPress on top, start the timer and apply gentle pressure until it beeps. Is using the EasyPress mini-apply with medium pressure and keep it moving in a circular motion.

• While the Iron-On film still feels warm to the touch, test a corner. If the liner does not lift easily, reapply and reheat for a few more seconds.

• Remove liner.

• Glue the pieces of felt together to complete the banner with craft glue. (A little dab will do ya!)

“Push Me Baby One More Time” Soap Dispenser

We had to get the birthday song out of our heads. Any song but that! So we decided to throw it back to the 90’s with a little reminder to use just a little more soap!

Materials:

• Cricut Maker or Air 2

• Transfer Tape

• StandardGrip Mat

• Soap Dispenser

How To:

• Create design on Cricut Design Space.

• Cut out vinyl square to size.

• Place vinyl side up on adhesive mat and load the machine and watch the Cricut do it’s magic.

• Unload and peel away extra vinyl.

• Weed away any left over smaller pieces of vinyl.

• Stick transfer tape onto vinyl design and press down firmly.

• Wipe down soap dispenser with alcohol and let dry.

• Gently peel up transfer tape with vinyl, position onto soap dispenser, smooth and rub.

• Peel off transfer tape leaving vinyl letters on the dispenser.

• Wash your hands while thinking of Britney, bitch.

Stay Home Acrylic Light Up Sign

We’ve been wanting to make another acrylic craft since our Psychic Reading Sign.

We turned Instagram’s stay home logo and turned it into an SVG file, engraved it onto a piece of acrylic and hand cut the bottom to fit into an LED stand. It’s the perfect little light for our window!

Materials:

• Acrylic Sheet

• Cricut Maker

• Cricut Engraving Tip

• StandardGrip Mat

• Painters Tape

• LED Stand

How to:

• Create design in Cricut Design Space and size to your liking.

• Select the “Engrave” option from the Linetype dropdown menu.

• Remove protective film on the top side of an acrylic sheet.

• Tape acrylic sheet facing up on a strong or standard grip mat using painter’s tape.

• Load the machine and watch the Cricut do it’s engraving magic. (The machine will guide you through the process – even making sure the right tool is loaded.)

• Carefully remove the acrylic from the mat and use a dry brush to remove loose shavings.

• Measure LED lamp base and cut the bottom of the acrylic sheet with a plastic cutter or a wood burning tool to fit.

• Peel off remaining protective sheet and light it up!
