Not all Valentine’s Day decor need’s to be over the top lovey-dovey with every shade of pink and red. Don’t get us wrong, we love a classic V-day vibe, but we wanted to keep things minimal and modern this year.
We busted out our Cricut Maker and made a handful of easy, cute and modern Valentine’s Day paper projects! Love is in the air!

It’s no surprise to you that we are absolutely head over heals in love with our cat, Teddy Krueger.
It seemed fitting to create a punny paper banner in his honor to celebrate our love for him…is that weird? (Only non-cat people will say “yes”.) If you’re lucky enough to have a pet, you might understand the realization that you too have become that person who’s suddenly decorating for your animal!
This simple banner is purrr-fect (sorry, couldn’t help ourselves) for a Valentine’s Day party, gathering or just festive home decor.

Originally we created the banner without the hearts, but we felt like it needed a little something extra. This is where the wavy blade comes in handy for all your Cricut creations. The wavy blade gives a decorative edge with a gentle wave cut and is the perfect addition to most projects.

How to cut:
-
Open the Fur Baby Banner file in Design Space and customize/size to your liking.
-
Lay a piece of black Kraft Board on a standard grip mat for the letters and the wavy heart backing.
-
Load the wavy blade into the Cricut Maker.
-
Load the mat in the machine, follow the prompts and watch the Cricut do it’s magic. (The machine will guide you through the process – even making sure the right tool is loaded.)
-
The Maker will first cut hearts then prompt you to switch to standard cutting blade to cut out the letters.
-
Unload the mat and carefully peel off of the letters and hearts from the mat.
-
Lay a piece of rose gold foil board down on a standard mat.
-
Load the mat in the machine, follow the prompts and watch it cut out the hearts.
-
Unload the mat and carefully peel off the hearts.
How to assemble:
-
Glue the rose gold hearts on top of the black wavy hearts.
-
Attach letters to a long string and add hearts. Originally we were going to glue each letter to the string, but decided to punch holes to thread the string through to make it easier to space out.

Watch your cat ignore it or try to rip it down. Easy kitty!

The cat Valentine’s Day banner is super cute and simple. And I do love a good pun!
We know you do!! Hahaha!
Bless little Teddy, did he really pose near the banner or did you have to photoshop him in? Normally cats are super contrary about things like that aren’t they?
I love the HVD sign, so classy and understated!
