Love is in the air!
Is it bad we’re in a relationship with our Cricut Maker?!? Almost one year strong now!
Let’s be honest, it can be a lot trying to get creative after the rush of the holidays but crafting for Valentine’s Day helps us get through the dark and long January.
Keeping Valentine’s Day simple is key, there’s no need to go all out but if you want to go out all out, using a Cricut machine will help make everything easy on your end!
New to the Cricut or don’t know what it is, click here to find out!

When we think of Valentine’s Day decorations we usually think of frilly pink and red hearts. We wanted to create something a little less traditional, but with a nastalgic feel.
This is where the wavy blade comes in handy to add a little something extra to your Cricut creations. The wavy blade gives a decorative edge with a gentle wave cut and is the perfect addition to most projects. We had never tried it on felt before and weren’t sure how it was going to come out – it’s definitely a more subtle edge than when its used on paper or fabric, but we actually like the subtleness of it!

Cut with the Cricut Maker:
-
Open the LOVE Banner file in Design Space and customize/size to your liking.
-
Lay a piece of grey felt on a fabric grip mat for the banner.
-
Load the wavy blade into the Cricut Maker.
-
Load the mat in the machine, follow the prompts and watch the Cricut do it’s magic. (The machine will guide you through the process – even making sure the right tool is loaded.)
-
Once cut, unload the machine and carefully remove the felt from the mat.
-
Repeat the process with the other pieces of felt.
-
Once the wavy blade cuts are done the Maker will prompt you to switch to standard cutting blade to cut out rest of the the letters.
-
Cut reaming letters.
Put together:
-
Layer each letter together and glue with fabric glue. Tip: A little glue goes a long way, no one wants glue spillage!
-
Cut the dowel one inch larger than the width of the banner.
-
Center the dowel along the top of the banner and use a staple gun or glue to attach.
-
Tie a piece of rope to the ends of the dowel to hang.
-
Center and arrange the letters on the banner and glue them down.
-
We added the little felt hearts that were cut out from the letters for a little extra embellishment. The darker blue hearts were from a test run we did with a scrap piece of felt.

Is it cliché to say we “love” this? It’s modern and fresh with a traditional feel!
The wavy blade definitely gave it that extra somethin’-somethin’ and don’t we all need a little extra somethin’- somethin’?!
Everybody say love!

Love, love, love, I want your love!
