We have a pretty decent sized kitchen…for NYC standards. In actuality its tiny, the gas was out all last year, the refrigerator works every other week, and the walls are concrete so we can barely hang anything on them! (Update: Check out or kitchen makeover) Because of the wall issue, we like to decorate our fridge seasonally to keep things fresh!
We decided we would combine cute summer aesthetic with functionality and we came up with a prickly cactus pin board with a pin/pen holder!
White and Green Acrylic Paint
Heavy Duty Scissors
-Print out an image of a cactus and lay over cork board and cut out using a craft knife. Tip: Cut the round edges ends last-turn the cork to help make round edges smooth.
-Paint the cactus a base coat of white. This will help the green color pop. Once dry, paint the cactus green.
-With heavy duty scissors, cut the plastic cup horizontally in half for the pot.
-Cut the plastic cup vertically in half leaving one flat open side.
-Cut out a piece of felt to wrap around the cup leaving enough felt to meet in the back and an slight over hang at the top and bottom of the cup.
-Glue felt to the front of the cup with craft glue and a paint brush. Hot glue the ends together in the back Add other color strips of felt to embellish the pot.
-Glue magnets to the back of the cactus with hot glue.
-Hot glue the pot to the back of the base of the cactus to the inside of the pot.
-Hot glue a magnet to the back of the felt pot.
Hang and enjoy!
This little prick!
