Let’s face it, most bedrooms are hidden from any visitors and sometimes neglected. Because we live in a one bedroom apartment in Queens, the bedroom always becomes additional hanging space when we host but honestly, we haven’t done much to the bedroom since we moved in…7 years ago! It was time to do a mini makeover!

We created an easy slat headboard using pre-cut pine wood boards from Home Depot!

It was pretty easy to put it all together and we we’re able to screw it right into our bed frame!
Materials:
-
Sandpaper 120-grit & 220-grit sandpaper
-
1-1/4” flathead screws
-
Pre-stain wood conditioner
-
Stain
-
Polyurethane
Cut List: (standard queen size bed)
Front Slats:
-
Pine Wood Board (3): 0.75” x 4.5” x 6’
-
Pine Wood Board (2) 0.75” x 7.25” x 6’
Back Legs & Support:
-
Pine Wood Board (3): 0.75” x 3.50” x 4’

The whole tutorial is on HGTV Handmade but basically, you screw all the pieces into 2 back legs and one support in the center!
Watch it all come together in the video!

Hi guys! I love this project and will be featuring it this evening on Celebrate Your Story! We go live at 7:00 p.m. CST. Thank you so much for sharing with us and I hope you will do so again!
Yay! Thank you so much!
Absolutely LOVE this project to bits! Such a fun way to add some texture to a plane wall and dress up your bed!
Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous headboard with us over at Waste Not Wednesday!
Did you attach it to the bed or wall somehow? Or does it just get sandwiched between?
Hey! Our bed frame had pre-drilled holes for a headboard, so we lined it up with that and just screwed them to together. Hope that helps!
Hey! I love this and am going to attempt my own ? what color stain did you use?
Yessss!!!! Let us know how it turns out! Honestly, don’t remember the stain…maybe a maple or cherry?!?! If we find it, we’ll let you know! Keep us posted!
Great video and a very attractive headboard.
Thank you! It’s one of our favorite projects!
Just LOVE this! I’m now on a mission to persuade my other half to give it a go! Wish me luck!
LOVE! It looks so good and I want to make one! How can I make it if I don’t have a bedframe that attaches to it?
I’m doing this for my bedroom and thinking about making it go up the wall a bit more as a statement. Did you measure for a queen size bed?
Do you have measurements for a king size headboard? I have been looking all over for something I could make for our master. I love this style!
Ah! We don’t but it should be pretty easy to adjust based on your bed! Sorry we’re no help! Haha, it’s one of our favorite projects we made and we’re still so in love with it! Keep us posted!
