We love to purge and donate our clothes after the new year but it’s always hard for us to part with our flannels! And we have a lot! So it was time to upcycle a few!

It’s pretty simple and no sewing skills required!

Materials:

Flannel Shirt

Iron On Adhesive Fabric Bond

Pillow Insert

How to:

  1. Lay flannel shirt on a flat surface and smooth it out until all the seams are lined up.

  2. Position the pillow inside the shirt to determine the placement of the pockets. You want the pockets centered on the front of your pillow.

  3. Use scissors to cut of any excess fabric around the pillow, leaving about an extra inch around all sides to allow for the seams (you’ll want to cut the sleeves and the collar and keep for other projects.)

  4. Now, flip over your fabric so the outsides are facing in and cut 4 pieces of the adhesive tape to match the size of your flannel.

  5. Follow the instructions on the adhesive tape and adhere to all 4 sides of the pillow cover.

  6. Unbutton your inside out pillow cover and turn it right side out.

  7. Add pillow insert and button up!

Repurposing our spark of joy!
